Welcome to Alta East Bay Pathology

Doctor

Dr. Jerome S. Burke

As a surgical pathologist for more than 45 years, I have witnessed a dramatic change in the discipline from one of pure morphology to a specialty that now routinely employs immunologic techniques, particularly immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry, supplemented by molecular and cytogenetic analyses. Whereas the excitement of a solving the genesis or mystery of an unknown neoplasm has never abated over the years, the use of the new techniques has led to a remarkable improvement in the accuracy of pathologic diagnoses and the discovery of new clinicopathologic entities. It’s been a great ride!
